The Best & Most Unique Floral Fragrance Oils for Soap, Skincare and Candles
Share
I have to admit that I have a teeny tiny fragrance oil addiction. I love buying new fragrance oils and when I create a product with a new scent it is beyond satisfying. Yes, I am probably biased when it comes to which FO's I buy, typically ordering scents I think I would personally like, and what everyone else likes comes second. If that makes me a selfish seller, them so be it. But nothing quite beats ordering a fragrance and the scent exceeding your expectations. I know that it is Winter time right now but I consider Floral scents to be appropriate year round.
I think that I have some unique favorites and hopefully you will discover a scent you are interested in trying and creating a product with. Creating is what we as humans are meant to do and for me at least, it preserves my emotional well-being. Disclaimer: they will not be any Lavender FO's on my list of favorites because I have come to the conclusion that I'm the only one who does not like Lavender! (My apologies if you are a Lavender fan).
1. Rose Gold (Brambleberry)
Yes, I like basic Rose but not enough to use it in my products. This FO is so unique and I completely forget that there are notes of Rose in this scent. The Brambleberry website describes Rose Gold as the sweet and soft mix of coconut, candy apple, raspberry, red currant, tulip, freesia, heliotrope, rose, cashmere musk, vanilla, and amber. Just looking at this gorgeous combination of notes you can't even imagine how good it actually smells. Besides it being one of my favorite Floral FO"s, it is in my top 5 favorite fragrances of all time. This is perfect for someone who doesn't like the Floral notes to be too overpowering. It has 245 reviews with a rating of 4.8 on the Brambleberry website.
2. Camellia Sugar (Brambleberry)
This fragrance oil a hidden gem. The name and description come nowhere close to portraying how captivating the scent truly is. I wish this scent was more popular when it comes to my sales, but you have to smell it to realize how beautiful a scent it is. This is another FO that is great for those who don't like the Floral notes to be overpowering. Even my friends who have specifically told me they don't like floral scents have fallen in love with Camellia Sugar from Brambleberry. The website describes it as a FO that opens with bright hints of grapefruit mixed with peach and coconut water. Delicate florals and tart rhubarb are followed by a warm undertone of amber, sandalwood, and musk. Another beautiful and unique FO from the Soap Queen.
3. Loveberry Crush (Midwest Fragrance Company)
I am definitely going to have to talk about my favorite fruit fragrance oils in another post but Loveberry Crush is a combination of fruit and Floral notes so I justified that it belongs in my favorite Floral scents as well. This has become a new favorite of mine. The combination of Berry and Floral notes is just right and creates a beautiful Fragrance oil that performs beautifully, especially in Cold Process Soap. The website description is as follows, "Immerse yourself in the delightful symphony of fruity and sweet florals notes, and let this fragrance evoke the blissful moments of a cherished romance. As you embark on this aromatic journey, the top notes burst forth with the lively and enticing blend of sparkling red raspberry, pomegranate, and juicy red currant, complimented by hearty notes of creamy coconut, ruby rose and sandalwood. Irresistible and charming!". Top notes include Sparkling Red Raspberry, Sweet Pomegranate, Juicy Red Currant. Middle notes include Peach Blossom, Red Ruby Rose and White Geranium, with the base notes including Creamy Coconut, White Tonka and Sandalwood.
4. Rose Quartz (Brambleberry)
Even though the FO Rose Quartz from Brambleberry has "Rose" in the name, it is far from your typical Rose fragrance. I am currently working on a large order of Rose Quartz Whipped Soap Scrubs and I can't tell you how delighted it makes me to have my house smell like this FO. I have purchased this scent more times than I can remember and it will always be a permanent staple in my collection unless for some reason (which I would be completely devastated) it is discontinued. It is described as "a bright and citrusy twist on a traditional rose fragrance. You'll love the notes of bergamot, orange, grapefruit, dried rose petals, jasmine, sandalwood, and musk". You also have to appreciate when you find a FO you love that doesn't discolor in Cold Process soap.
5. Winter Kiss (Wholesale Supplies Plus)
The next best Floral FO is Winter Kiss from Wholesale Supplies Plus and is perfect for this time of year. While I do own, use and enjoy many fragrance oils from WSP, there are only a few that I consider to be on the "Best of the Best" list, but this is one of them. If you could mix the essence of Winter with the most beauty flowers, all with a touch of sweet candy, you would get Winter Kiss. That is my interpretation of it anyway.
The website describes it as "Love’s embrace warms through and through as tart cranberry and ruby grapefruit dance with floral red peony and Christmas rose, along with light, sugary cotton candy."
6. Peach Peony and Pearl (Brambleberry)
The next fragrance oil, Peach Peony and Pearl, is the most unique and elegant scents I have encountered in a long time. It makes me feel like I'm standing by the sea surrounding my Peaches and Peonies lol. Can you use lol in a blog? I just did, so I guess so! Another fragrance from Brambleberry of course. This might not be a FO for the masses, but I instantly fell in love and believe it deserves to be on my list.
The website describes it as "Airy top notes of ozone and citrus zest are followed by apricot, peach, strawberry and peony. A base of petrichor, sea salt and shimmering musk round out this beautiful fragrance." It also states, "This sophisticated and fresh scent is sure to become a favorite", and I completely agree.
7. Heavenly Type (Wholesale Supplies Plus)
As embarrassing as it is to admit, I had a bottle of this perfume for over 20 years! There was only a small amount of perfume actually left and I could have easily bought a new bottle from Victoria's Secret, I don't know why I kept that particular one for so long. Part of me liked the idea of having something I bought in high school and still enjoyed. Long story short, this scent has been a favorite of mine for a long time and when I found this FO I made myself a Body Mist and threw the bottle away. This lovely fragrance is described as "A heavenly blend of hydrangea and violet with nuances of pear and musk". The description of the actual perfume from VS is, "An ethereal classic. Luminous and warm, Heavenly was created to capture the inner strength and radiance inside of every woman. This Eau de Parfum opens with a hint of effervescent fruits and moves into a hand-crafted bouquet of romantic white florals at the heart: freesia, lotus, and jasmine. Enveloped in gold musk, creamy sandalwood and bourbon vanilla, the signature is pure, sophisticated warmth".
8. Love Spell Type (Brambleberry & Midwest Fragrance Company)
I had to include this classic, another dupe of a Victoria's Secret Fragrance. Also, a favorite of mine since high school. I have tried the Brambleberry version as well as the MFC version and like them both equally. Brambleberry describes it as "inspired by Victoria's Secret Love Spell with notes of bergamot, peach, strawberry, apple blossom, African tamarind, Damask rose, tonka bean, coconut milk, and white musk", and the description from MFC is, "A sophisticated, feminine blend of peach and apple blossom atop smooth coconut milk, jasmine and hydrangea blossoms. Completed with a base of light vanilla, white musk and powder. This fragrance was inspired by the Victoria’s Secret® scent".
9. Love Letter (Brambleberry)
I love this romantic and Floral FO, especially around Valentines Day, but can be used year round. This fragrance is another that isn't your typical flower heavy scent. It is described as, "smells like mandarin, lemon, orange blossom, magnolia, heliotrope, pink jasmine, soft vanilla, amber, and musk". It is definitely one to check out and with a rating of 4.8 based on 93 reviews, I'm not the only one who thinks that.
10. Cherry Blossom (Brambleberry)
I thought I would end my list with a traditional Floral FO, but even though the scent is a classic, somehow Brambleberry has made this scent smells better than you could ever imagine a Cherry Blossom FO to smell like. I originally bought this FO because I knew it was a well know scent that would appeal to many but when I first opened the bottle I couldn't believe how beautiful this FO in particular was. I don't know how she does it! It is described as, "A delicate mix of pomegranate, currant, cherry blossom, and white magnolia".
I do want to mention the Japanese Cherry Blossom FO from WSP which is not a bad runner up. Wholesale Supplies Plus offers free shipping over $25, so there are times it is easier to place an order from WSP than it is from Brambleberry. This FO doesn't disappoint and is described as "Tender cherry blossom, sensual white lily and blushing violet petals blended with a hint of warm vanilla".
I hope this list of the Best and Most Unique Floral fragrance oils included some scents you may not have been aware of or was just the confirmation you needed to try one of them. I love fragrance oils like these that are twists on ordinary Floral scents. Even if you are someone who typically doesn't like floral scents, these might surprise you. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these fragrance oils, and if you haven't, which ones are you most intrigued to try?
